The Gippsland Lakes, a large beautiful network of lakes in Victoria, Australia. Ramsar listed and haven for many threatened and endangered species of birds and marine life. Home of First Nations people Gunaikurnai and the famous Burrunan Dolphins, and a boating and watersports mecca.

Friends of Gippsland Lakes is a group of passionate citizens that love the Gippsland Lakes, but are also concerned about serious and imminent threats to them. Our members include people of many skills and backgrounds including waterways management, engineers, ecologists, scientists, educators, artists and historians. We also greatly acknowledge and heed the wisdom and desires of traditional owners for this country.

Our Philosophy
We believe in a positive and co-operative approach to achieving great outcomes for the Lakes, based on evidential data and science as well as traditional values and local knowledge. We work with the multitude of Government and local agencies who manage the Lakes, as well as local communities, traditional owners, landowners and primary industry, to effect positive changes in practices and attitudes, that achieve a “win win” result for all.
I am concerned about the Gippsland Lakes. What can I do ?
