“Bringing the Care Groups Together” workshop
Coast Action / Coastcare has announced the third annual “Bringing the Care Groups Together” workshop. The field trip and lecture is happening on Friday the 2nd of June in Paynesville. “Bringing the Care Groups Together” is an initiative designed to bring together all those community members that are working towards the betterment of their local environment. You will hear from agencies, academics and each other about what is happening in the region as well as build better networks with those community.
This years theme is “Your Estuary – Get to Know It”, a one day experience designed to increase your knowledge of estuaries, estuary processes and the management roles and responsibilities surrounding estuaries. I am very pleased and excited to announce that speaking on the day and again that evening will be Assoc. Prof John Sherwood from Deakin University, Warrnambool. Assoc. Prof. Sherwood is recognised as one of the foremost authorities on estuaries, estuary processes and has been at the forefront of a crusade for a better system of protecting and managing estuaries for many years. John was also the recipient of the Coast Action/Coastcare Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2005 Coastal Awards for Excellence. The field trip aboard the Enterprise is restricted to the vessel’s capacity so it will be on a first-in-first-served basis. There is no limit on the numbers for the morning workshops or evening presentation. All responses are to be through reception at DSE on 5152 0600.
